Most of the operating budget for the year is raised this way. I actually mis-spoke up there^^. They never turn people away. Had he shown up without an entrance card, he would have had to wait on line for a few minutes but would have gotten in. And at Yizkor, everyone is invited.

Before I began to attend services regularly, this custom bugged me big time. But once I realized how much money was involved in making everything happen during the High Holy Days, as well as during the rest of the year, I felt obligated and even honored to do my part. Rent, and rabbis, need to be paid, and it is my responsibility to help and give something back if I want to take.

--aa.alto artisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07101176587462737940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10494827.post-7736744266559125682007-10-02T05:50:00.000-04:002007-10-02T05:50:00.000-04:00"You know, I'm sure they'll let you in now, since ..."You know, I'm sure they'll let you in now, since the service is about to end."
Does this mean that only those who had pre-booked (and presumably pre-paid) could get in?Georgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13169109978694892927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10494827.post-30539379609766063432007-10-01T14:45:00.000-04:002007-10-01T14:45:00.000-04:00So glad to see you here! I like when you say how God was shy on Yom Kippur... it's poetic to think of our God as needing a little coaxing from us to show His Face. Sometimes His love goes unrequited all too often...
What a blessing it must have been to hear that woman speak, a Holocaust survivor- and to hear in her words only love and strength. That is a marvel to me... and it makes me happy that there are still people out there like her.
Thanks for this today, aa... and I will keep on visiting!
xoxoReginahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14287107184977896696noreply@blogger.com
